Pick your iPhone, enter your free space and what you shoot in a day. Watch the storage fill and get the date.

Where Winnow comes in

Winnow finds that space for you in minutes

Similar shots, big videos, screenshots and copies, checked on your iPhone. You see the real gigabytes you can free before you delete anything.

Where these numbers come from

These are typical values for High Efficiency recording (HEIC photos and HEVC video), based on the storage figures Apple has published for earlier iPhones and on common measurements. Real files vary with the scene, light and motion: a busy 4K scene can be much bigger than a calm one. Videos recorded in Most Compatible (H.264) can be about twice the size. 1 GB is counted as 1,000 MB, like the iPhone does. Use the result as an estimate, not a promise.

Apple publishes no per-minute size for Cinematic, so its value is an estimate based on 4K at 30 fps with HDR. Edit it to match your own files.

Questions

How does the calculator work out the date?

It divides your free space by what you add each day (photos times their size, plus video minutes times their size) and counts that many days from today. It assumes you do not delete anything and your habit stays the same.

What happens when the iPhone has no free space left?

The Camera can no longer save photos and videos, updates fail and apps slow down. Free some space well before the date shown.
